  • Trent Alexander-Arnold made some interesting picks in a recent challenge
  • The right-back snubbed his teammate Mohamed Salah as the best player
  • He is set to miss the Carabao Cup final as he battles a knee problem

Trent Alexander-Arnold did not hesitate in snubbing Mohamed Salah while picking the best player in the world.

The England international, who is currently nursing an injury, took some time to take part in a viral challenge where one makes picks from 16 football stars he rates in a knockout format.

Big names in football go head-to-head, with participants eliminating one player in each round until it narrows down to one player.

Alexander-Arnold’s picks

The game, which was featured on JD Football, had players from both the past and present.

After picking Salah over Harry Kane in the ‘last 16, it boiled down to the last eight, making the right-back’s choices a bit tougher.

He picked Cristiano Ronaldo over Zlatan Ibrahimovic before selecting his Liverpool teammate Salah over Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o.

Meanwhile, Karim Benzema beat Robert Lewandowski in Trent’s picks, while Lionel Messi expectedly beat Thierry Henry to get into the last four.

Things got more interesting when he picked Al-Nassr star over Mohamed Salah, while Messi was chosen ahead of Benzema.

Like many football fans across the world, the 25-year-old’s picks for the best player boiled down to Ronaldo vs Messi. Interestingly, he did not take too long to conclude his choice as he leaned on Messi, who he picked as the best player.

Credit has to go to Alexander-Arnold, who was pretty objective with his picks. Otherwise, he could have easily gone for Salah as the best player for the simple fact that the two have enjoyed immense success as teammates at Liverpool.

About Alexander-Arnold’s injury

Considered one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, Alexander-Arnold’s season took a turn for the worse after he suffered a knee injury in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup, per SportBible.

Klopp took a risk by playing him in Liverpool’s Premier League game against Burnley, but that only aggravated the problem, and now the right-back is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Liverpool boss confirmed earlier this week that his defender would likely miss the Carabao Cup final.

“All the little bit longer-term like Trent and Dom, they are on their way back but not in team training yet, so that means they are not available as well. That's the situation, let me say it like that.” He said, per the Liverpool website.

Jorginho’s best players in the Premier League

In other news, another Premier League star also took a stab at naming the best players.

As Sports Brief reported, Arsenal’s Jorginho was tasked with naming the top five players in English top flight, and he had an interesting inclusion.

Kevin de Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Salah were in his top three.
