What happened to Luis Diaz’s father?

On October 28, 2023, armed men on motorcycles kidnapped Luis Diaz’s parents from a gas station in the small town of Barrancas.

Diaz’s mother, Cilenis Marulanda, was rescued hours later, but his dad was at the mercy of the guerrilla group National Liberation Army, or ELN, for 12 days, before he was located, according to The Guardian.

Since then, Luis Manuel Díaz Jiménez has consistently stayed away from his home country Colombia and is often seen attending his son’s games in England.
