  • Messi has a select list of the 60 songs that he listens to as a pre-match routine

That Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world was a question that was put to rest a long time ago. Even Cristiano Ronaldo fans concur - they just can't agree on his position in the GOAT debate.

Messi has graced the football pitch for 15 plus years, terrorising defenders, producing defence-splitting passes and scoring classic goals with such ease and finesse.

Apart from that, he has continuously let the public in on his family life, often parading his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo and their three sons whenever there is an award to be collected.

Messi: The Warm-Up

The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has now gone a step further and unveiled the songs he listens to. Understanding how the Messi brain works remains a mystery for many people. For someone to pop up with flashes of brilliance in a game where his team has been dominated requires a different kind of motivation if you put the obvious talent aside.

And as it turns out, the Argentina star draws his pre-match inspiration from a select list of songs. In collaboration with Apple Music, Messi has shared a 60-song list from a couple of genres that are his 'pick-me-up' songs.

The playlist has been titled Messi: The Warm-Up, with the number 10 opening up on what role music plays in his life.

"For as long as I can remember, music has played an important part in my life, especially on match days."

The playlist has obvious Spanish picks like Bad Bunny, Luis Fonsi, Maluma, Rosalia and Rauw Alejandro. Messi also has Drake, Rihanna and Cold Play on his three-and-a-half-hour-long playlist.

The 36-year-old is back in league action on February 22 when the Major League Soccer season starts. Inter Miami play Real Salt Lake in their opening game.

Kaka's thoughts on GOAT debate

Sports Brief has also reported that former Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder Kaka has opened up on whose phone call he would pick first if both Messi and Ronaldo called him at the same time.

The 2007 Ballon d'Or winner also settled the GOAT debate, admitting that he likes his fellow South American despite playing with Ronaldo in Spain.
