Ghana striker, Inaki Williams, continued his red-hot form in Spain after scoring the winner for Athletic Bilbao in the game against Girona on Monday night.

The Black Stars forward netted the decisive goal on the hour mark in a thrilling contest at San Mames.

Williams, who had a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations, has now netted his tenth goal of the season in La Liga.

In a video shared on social media, the 29-year-old showed great strength to outwit his marker before firing home the winner.

The hosts opened the scoring in the second minute through Álex Berenguer, but Viktor Tsygankov levelled for the visitor's moments after the break.

Berenguer responded seven minutes later with his second of the game before Williams extended the advantage in the 60th minute.

Eric Garcia reduced the deficit with 15 minutes remaining, but it was too late for the title contenders to make a comeback.

The victory sees Athletic Club close the gap between them and fourth-placed Atletico Bilbao to two points while Real Madrid holds a six-point lead over Girona, per Livescore.

Williams returns to Spain after AFCON exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Athletic Bilbao forward, Inaki Williams returned to Spain to score the winner in the Copa del Rey clash against Barcelona following Ghana's AFCON elimination.

Williams, who was part of Ghana's 27-man squad at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, returned to Bilbao after his country's unexpected group-stage exit on January 22, 2024,

The 29-year-old attacker played in all three Group B games for the Black Stars, including the final match where Ghana forfeited a two-nil lead, resulting in a disappointing draw with Mozambique.

Williams names hotel after San Mames

Sports Brief also reported that Black Stars forward, Inaki Williams' newly-built hotel in Ghana has been inaugurated and is now open to the public.

The Athletic Bilbao star named the hotel after his club's home venue, the San Mames Stadium, with the hotel situated in Akyem in the Eastern part of Ghana.

Williams missed the commissioning of the hotel due to his involvement with the Black Stars, who are currently training for the Africa Cup of Nations this month.
