Neal Maupay has shared his side of the story after an altercation involving him and Kyle Walker during Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Brentford on February 5.

Maupay and Walker got in each other’s faces, and it required the intervention of the match official Jared Gillett and City boss Pep Guardiola to sort the issue out on the pitch.

Per Daily Star, a lip reader was engaged after the defender threatened to knock the forward out, alleging he made poor comments about his children.

The captain allegedly fathered a child with one woman outside his marriage, which could have been what the former Brighton star spoke about.

Maupay clarifies Walker spat

The Brentford forward has spoken for the first time since the incident two weeks ago in an interview with The Times, denying he insulted his opponent’s family.

“I didn't think I should have to defend myself for something I didn't do. The people who know me know I wouldn't say something like that, but it is a bit unfair because if I don't talk, then people will think I'm guilty,” he said.

Despite claiming he would not disclose what he said, he claimed he was having fun and trying to get under the England international’s emotions, but he never crossed the line.

“People don't realise how much tension and emotion is involved at the highest level. I think it works quite well, and if I can get a reaction, great. It's not personal, and I'm sure I've never crossed that line. I try to be on the edge, but I don't say stuff about a player's private life or their family,” he said.

He has become notorious for on-field antics. The former Everton star mocked James Maddison on Instagram during Brentford’s 3-2 loss to Tottenham after copying his celebration.

Maupay makes fun of Chelsea goalkeeper

Sports Brief reported on Maupay making fun of Robert Sanchez after the goalkeeper's howler helped Brentford seal a 2-0 win over the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

The pair were former teammates at Brighton and exchanged shirts after the game, which the striker wore, took a picture and uploaded it on Instagram with a telling caption.
