He changed the game as Ivory Coast produced a strong performance against Senegal in the Round of 16 before netting in the final minute of the quarter-final against Mali.

Adingra served two assists in the final as Ivory Coast came from a goal down to beat Nigeria 2-1 and win their third AFCON title.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate received a heroic welcome following his return to England and during his speech opened up on Ivory Coast's resilience.

"It sounds amazing because the tournament was in my country and it was very special for me and for my family also. It was crazy because we were almost out of the tournament but we were able to come back and win the tournament," he said in a video shared on social media.

The Ivorian forward was also named the Young Player of the Tournament following his exploits at the competition.

The youngster joined the Seagulls in the summer transfer window from Danish outfit FC Nordsjaelland, as reported by the BBC.

Brighton fan watches Adingra in AFCON final

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that a Brighton fan travelled thousands of miles to watch winger, Simon Adingra, play for Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

The fan, in his Seagulls kit, could not hide his joy after the 21-year-old starred as the host nation came from behind to beat Nigeria and win the tournament.

Adingra served up the assists for both Ivorian goals and was a menace for Nigeria defender, Ola Aina, who failed to contain him down the flank.
