Man United appointed McCarthy as first-team coach in July 2022, following the hiring of Erik ten Hag as the club's manager. He was credited for Marcus Rashford's incredible 2022/23 season, where he ended up as the club's top scorer.

Hojlund has praised the former Porto, Ajax, Blackburn Rovers, and West Ham striker for improving him and his teammates.

"World class guy, he's a very nice person, you can always talk with him. he wants to develop us players, he wants us to learn off him, he wants to make us better players, and he is doing a very good job," Hojlund said via SuperSport.

The Danish striker is enjoying the best spell of his career at Old Trafford, so far. He has scored in his last five Premier League matches, taking his tally for the season to 11 from 29 matches, per Transfermarkt.

Man United players hail McCarthy

Sports Brief earlier reported on Man United players warmly embracing Benni McCarthy after returning to training last year.

The former Bafana Bafana striker, a first-team coach for the forwards, was spotted enjoying a heartwarming moment with Alejandro Garnacho, Victor Lindelof, Diogo Dalot, and others before training kicked off.

The club recently posted a lot of content on social media applauding the former AmaZulu manager.

Hojlund makes history

Sports Brief earlier reported on Rasmus Hojlund making history after scoring for Man United West Ham in the Premier League.

The young striker had to wait 1,000 minutes before scoring his first goal in the English top flight. He is now the youngest player to score in four consecutive appearances for the Red Devils.

Hojlund is seen as the long-term solution to the club's centre-forward position. They haven't had a young exciting striker for years, and their fans are excited things are coming together for the 21-year-old.
