Sports Brief looks at four reasons he will not join Barcelona.

Reasons Mbappe won't join Barcelona

1. Barca's financial strength

Per Diario Sport, Mbappe demands a sign-on bonus of €130 million, which Barca cannot afford. His salary is beyond the club's wage structure, and they cannot register him with La Liga due to strict financial fair play policies.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo's influence

The 25-year-old idolises Cristiano Ronaldo and has long dreamed of following in his footsteps by playing for Los Blancos. The club would also want one of football’s big superstars, who has a similar aura to the Portuguese, to be in their ranks.

3. Barca's next coach saga

One of the key components of selling a club’s project to a player is stability in the coaching department. Though none of Madrid or Barca keep coaches for long, the capital city club have Carlo Ancelotti till 2026 while their rivals are searching for a manager to replace Xavi, who is confirmed to leave at the end of the season.

4. Javier Tebas’ influence

La Liga president Javier Tebas, speaking to Marca at the Sports Press Association awards last month, rated the chances of the former Monaco star moving to Madrid as 50%, adding that each passing day meant he is closer to Spain than staying in France.

Tebas has been accused of having a soft spot for the 14-time European champions but unfriendly with the Blaugrana.

Getafe teases Mbappe’s signing

Sports Brief reported on Getafe teasing Mbappe's signing on social media after news broke that the winger had communicated his decision to leave PSG.

The club uploaded a picture of Mbappe in their shirt and captioned it “tic tac” as if they were announcing his ‘impending’ addition to their team.
