Lorch completed the high-profile switch to Sundowns late last month. The transfer shocked many fans, who will have to get used to seeing the attacker wearing the Tshwane giants' jersey.

The 30-year-old spent eight years at Pirates, making 176 appearances and contributing 34 goals and 30 assists.

Speaking to the media ahead of the showdown against the Bucaneers, Lorch said playing against his former team would be tough.

"It’s difficult to play my first game, especially against my former team, but in life, we need to move on. I’m hoping I will start over the weekend and do the best for my team," said Lorch via Far Post.

He said he does want to play against Pirates on Saturday.

"Everyone wants to play over the weekend because we are playing Pirates; it’s a big team. The coach [Rulani Mokwena] will decide who plays; it’s up to the coach."

Pirates have not enjoyed this fixture in the last few years. Moreover, Sundowns are unbeaten this season in the PSL, so they will face an uphill task in front of the Yellow Nation.

Mokwena on Lorch

Sports Brief earlier reported on Sundowns coach, Rulani Mokwena, welcoming Lorch to the club after the big-news transfer.

Mokwena saluted the Buccaneers for making the transfer process smooth and also for moulding Lorch into the player he is today.

"Thembinkosi Lorch is an excellent player because of his football background. And his football background is eight to nine years, maybe even more as an Orlando Pirates player."

Lorch's message to Mamelodi Sundowns

Sport Brief also reported on Lorch sending a message to Sundowns fans after the completion of his move from their PSL rivals, Orlando Pirates.

The South African star is yet to make his official debut for the Brazilians, but fans are eager to watch him team up with Themba Zwane and others.

The former Orlando Pirates star also asked for the support of the fans of his new team, claiming their support would mean everything to him.
