  • Cristiano Ronaldo played his 1,000th club football game this week
  • He scored for Al-Nassr in the AFC ACL to mark the special occasion
  • The Portuguese veteran was in a mood to show off on social media

Cristiano Ronaldo was clearly in the mood to show off a bit on his socials after reaching a new milestone of 1,000 matches in club football this week.

The veteran, who made his professional debut for Sporting Lisbon in 2002, has played for major clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

He now plies his trade with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League and has continued to showcase his prodigious skill even in the twilight of his football career.

Ronaldo marked his special occasion of 1,000 games with a goal, his first of 2024, while also marking another personal record of scoring in 23 consecutive years, per BR Football.

His goal helped Al-Nassr secure a 1-0 win over fellow Saudi Pro League club, Al Feiha, in the Round of 16 first leg of the AFC Champions League, ahead of the second leg tie next week.

The goal was his 713th non-penalty goal, said to have placed him level with the tally of long-term rival, Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo flexes new milestone

Ronaldo's most active social media accounts are his Instagram and X. After the game yesterday, he posted on the former Twitter in a clear act of showboating.

Instead of the usual and somewhat cliched statements, the veteran wrote, 'Who's counting?' as a caption accompanying a picture of him celebrating.

The tone of a later message on his Instagram was quite different; he focused on praising the team for the hard-fought win and looked away from personal glory.

Ronaldo debuts new celebration

Meanwhile, Sports Brief has also reported on Ronaldo debuting a new celebration after scoring his first goal of 2024 against fellow Saudi club, Al Feiha.

The superstar combined two of his previous celebrations: the 'Siuuu' and 'peace of mind', jumping as if he was about to twirl but then changing this up.

Ronaldo's highest-scoring years

Sports Brief also analysed Ronaldo’s highest-scoring football years after his first goal of 2024, which has reportedly seen him score for 23 consecutive years since 2002.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was certainly in his best goal-scoring form in 2013, scoring 69 goals and surpassing the 60-goal mark in four other years, including 2015.
