  • Jude Bellingham will soon know his fate after reportedly aiming a slur at Mason Greenwood
  • He was spotted saying something to the on-loan Manchester United player on February 1
  • Both players are enjoying spectacular seasons, with Bellingham topping the scoring charts

Jude Bellingham could be banned by Spanish authorities for allegedly using an offensive slur on Mason Greenwood during a La Liga match.

The two English players met two weeks ago when Real Madrid travelled to the Coliseum to face Getafe.

At one point in the game, they were involved in a clash on the touchline, with Bellingham spotted saying something in Greenwood's direction.

It was unclear what the former Borussia Dortmund striker had said, with Getafe asking the referee to include it in the official match report and begin an investigation into the matter.

What did Bellingham say to Greenwood?

Spanish outlet COPE now understands that RFEF's Competition Committee has received the investigation report, which sought to determine if Bellingham had said (expletive) or rubbish.

The committee will appoint a judge who is set to deliberate on the findings and decide whether Bellingham has a case to answer or throw out the case completely.

The Real Madrid midfielder could be suspended for up to four games if found guilty, according to the Mirror. He is currently out for up to a month with a sprained ankle sustained during the 4-0 weekend win over Girona.

The case is the only blip in the 20-year-old's career in Spain, which started with a bang. He is currently leading the race for the Pichichi Award with 16 goals.

Meanwhile, Greenwood has also enjoyed a rather steady comeback to football. The on-loan Manchester United striker has settled well into life in Spain, becoming a regular starter for Getafe. He has five goals and five assists to his name.

Top scorers in Europe's top-five list

Sports Brief has also reported that Bellingham is in the top scorers list in Europe's top-five leagues. His 16 goals in La Liga put him a joint-fifth with his former teammate Erling Haaland on the list.

Bayern Munich's Harry Kane leads with 24 goals, followed by Kylian Mbappe, who has already scored 20 goals in Ligue 1.

Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez has 19 goals in the Serie A, putting him third on the list.
