The Elephants are reaping the rewards of their title win in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, with players and coaches getting cash prizes from the tournament and the Ivory Coast government.

Ivory Coast's AFCON 2023 winnings

With their 2-1 victory over Nigeria in the final, Ivory Coast took home not only the AFCON trophy, but also the $7 million in prize money allotted to the champions.

The blessings kept on coming for the winning squad, as President Alassane Ouattara announced on Tuesday that they would pocket $82,000 (£65,000).

Emerse Fae also got a huge reward after leading his team to victory, with the interim coach receiving 150,000 Euros from the president.

In addition to that cash prize, the Elephants will also get a villa worth a similar amount from the government, per the BBC.

Senegal's AFCON 2021 winnings

The Teranga Lions made history in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, winning their first-ever title. They beat Egypt in a penalty shootout in the final to claim not only the coveted championship but also the $5 million top prize.

President Macky Sall also gave members of the champion team $87,000 each. They also received a 200 square metre plot of land in the capital city of Dakar, per Reuters.

Sall added that the team would also get a 500-square-metre plot for a commemorative estate in the town of Diamniadio,

Algeria's AFCON 2019 winnings

Algeria won their second AFCON title in 2019, beating Senegal 1-0 in the final.

Apart from lifting the trophy, Les Fennecs also took home $4.5 million in prize money from CAF.

Cameroon's AFCON 2017 winnings

The Indomitable Lions reigned supreme for the fifth time in Africa's showpiece event, beating Egypt 2-1 in the final.

Cameroon took home $4 million in prize money from CAF as a reward for their championship, per Africanews.

AFCON 2023 breakout stars

Sports Brief recently reported on the breakout stars of AFCON 2023.

Ivory Coast's Simon Adingra stole the show in the final, recording two assists in the second half that swung the match in their favour.

Stanley Nwabali also impressed between the sticks for Nigeria, recording four clean sheets in the tournament.
