African football legends, Samuel Eto'o and Didier Drogba, have also won this award before.

The Cameroonian captured the AFCON Golden Boot award in the 2006 and 2008 editions. Only seven players have won multiple scoring titles in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Drogba may not have won the AFCON title with Ivory Coast in his illustrious career, but he did capture the Golden Boot award once.

He took home the top prize in 2012, sharing the award with six other people after they all scored three goals apiece.

Equatorial Guinea's Emilio Nsue became the latest winner of the prestigious award, capturing the Golden Boot after scoring five goals at AFCON 2023.

All of his goals came in the group stage, scoring a hat-trick against Guinea-Bissau and nabbing a brace against Ivory Coast, per Sports Illustrated.

He made history with that honour, becoming the second player from Equatorial Guinea to win the AFCON Golden Boot award.

Fans celebrate Ivory Coast's historic win

Sports Brief also reported on celebrations following Ivory Coast's AFCON 2023 win.

The Elephants defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the final to claim their third title.

Thousands flocked to Abidjan to join in the team's title parade after their AFCON success.
