The quarter-final round of the Africa Cup of Nations and Asian Cup is finally here.

Some teams in the English top flight are still dealing with the absences of their key players as the last 8 starts.

Sports Brief looks at the Premier League stars still in action in those competitions.

EPL clubs missing AFCON, Asian Cup stars

Brentford

Four Brentford players are still competing in this year's AFC Asian Cup and AFCON.

Midfielder, Saman Ghoddos plays for Iran, who will face Japan in the quarter-finals. Defender, Kim Ji-soo, on the other hand, will suit up for South Korea in their game against Australia.

In Africa's showpiece event, Brentford's Frank Onyeka will suit up for the Super Eagles in their game against Angola, while Yoane Wissa is part of DR Congo's lineup against Guinea in the last 8.

Brighton

Two Brighton players are still missing in action because of AFCON and the Asian Cup.

Kaoru Mitoma's Japan will face Iran in the quarters, while Simon Adingra's Ivory Coast will lock horns with Mali in the last 8.

Mitoma made his first appearance for Samurai Blue in this year's Asian Cup in the Round of 16 match against Bahrain, per France24.

Fulham

Two Fulham players are still participating in this year's Africa Cup of Nations.

Defender, Calvin Bassey and midfielder, Alex Iwobi will suit up for Nigeria when they take on Angola in the quarter-finals.

Liverpool

Wataru Endo has been a vital cog for the Reds this season. He's still in Qatar for the Asian Cup, with Japan set to face Iran in the quarter-finals.

Nottingham Forest

Three Nottingham Forest players are still competing in this year's Africa Cup of Nations.

Willy Boly, and Ibrahim Sangare will suit up for Ivory Coast in their last-8 clash with Mali, while Ola Aina's Nigeria will face Angola in the quarters.

Tottenham

Two Spurs players are still missing in action because of the Asian Cup and AFCON.

Son Heung-min's South Korea will square off with Australia in the quarters, while Yves Bissouma's Mali will lock horns with Ivory Coast in the last 8.

Son is still in Qatar after South Korea scored a late equaliser against Saudi Arabia in the Round of 16 and won their match in a penalty shootout, per the BBC.

Wolves

Two Wolves players are still participating in this year's Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations.

Hwang Hee-chan will suit up for South Korea in their last-8 clash with Australia, while Boubacar Traore's Mali will face hosts Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals.

Nigeria vs. Angola Preview

The Super Eagles are coming off a 2-0 win over Cameroon in the Round of 16.

The Black Antelopes, on the other hand, crushed Namibia in their last-16 showdown.
