  • Victor Osimhen has been urged to snub a move to Chelsea for their English Premier League rivals
  • The Super Eagles star has been one of the best players in Europe's top five leagues this season
  • The reigning CAF Footballer of the Year recently signed a new contract with Italian side, Napoli

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been advised to snub a move to Chelsea for their English Premier League rivals if he decides to leave Napoli in the summer.

The Nigerian international is presently with the Super Eagles squad at the ongoing 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. Still, reports keep linking him with a move away from his Italian club.

The Blues are one of the teams eyeing the Super Eagles striker but face difficult competition from London rivals Arsenal.

"Osimhen is still a better option to what Arsenal and Chelsea have got [in the striker's position]. Do we think the Gunners will push more than the Blues in the next few seasons?" he said.
"Probably, but the Blues are a bit of a slow burner. They are getting a little bit better, Chelsea.
"It is hard to see how this one will pan out. But Arsenal are getting desperate for a new striker."

The former professional footballer turned pundit disclosed why the former Lille striker should join Arsenal instead of Mauricio Pochettino's team.

"After all, Chelsea do have some good players. If he is really ambitious at this moment in time, you would not touch the Blues ahead of Arsenal," he added.

Osimhen recently signed a new contract with Napoli, and it would be difficult to convince Aurelio De Laurentiis to sell the Nigerian striker in the summer.

Fans chant Osimhen's name in AFCON

Sports Brief also reported on fans chanting Osimhen's name after the Super Eagles' 2-0 win over Cameroon in the AFCON 2023 Round of 16 tie.

The Napoli striker provided the assist for the first goal scored in the game by Ademola Lookman.
