Opta’s supercomputer has given the Super Eagles of Nigeria the highest win probability of the remaining eight teams in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
This means Nigeria are the odds-on favourite to claim their fourth Nations Cup title following the elimination of superpowers like Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Ghana.
According to Opta, Nigeria has a 29.5% likelihood of winning the 2023 AFCON, nearly doubling the next favourite, Ivory Coast, who has a 15.4% chance of winning the title on home soil.
Mali is the third-best team on the favourites list, with the Eagles given a 12.6% chance of winning their first-ever AFCON title, while Angola, DR Congo, South Africa, Cape Verde and Guinea complete the order.
