Karim Benzema’s desire to leave Saudi Arabia after six months is no secret, but with his next destination continuing to spark speculation, his brother has provided an update.

The Frenchman left Real Madrid last year after 15 years and 24 trophies and joined the Saudi Pro League train, after the trend set by former Madridsta, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Per Goal, he accepted a two-year contract worth €400 million to join Al-Ittihad and bade farewell to the La Liga giants, winning the Copa del Rey in his final season.

Midway through the Saudi Pro League season, the France international forward has grown tired of life in the Middle East and wants out, though his salary is a significant stumbling block.

Per Sport, Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti has informed club president, Florentino Perez of his desire to bring the forward back to Santiago Bernabeu, as he has not been replaced since leaving.

Per a screenshot shared by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, his brother Sabri quashed the reports as fake, ruling out the striker’s return to the Spanish capital.

Per The Athletic, Benzema’s former club, Olympique Lyon are actively exploring options to re-sign their former striker, but his wages in Saudi Arabia are way beyond what they can afford.

The 36-year-old has not fared badly with Al-Ittihad, scoring nine goals and providing six assists in 15 games, but the club, which has changed managers this season, are down to seventh on the table.

Other clubs in Europe have been linked to his signature on loan until the end of the season, including those in the Premier League.

Ancelotti also denied the reports that he requested for his former player back at the club, labelling it as 'fake news'.

Chelsea could sign Benzema

Sports Brief also named Benzema as a possible signing for Chelsea on a temporary deal to fix their goal-scoring issues, at least until the end of the season, as they explore the market.

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad will be boosted by the availability of a proven goal-scorer, with Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja struggling to deliver the necessary firepower in attack.
