FootballPitso Mosimane: Why the South African Coach’s Saudi Move is Delayed Amid Links to Kaizer Chiefs
- Pitso Mosimane is set to return to Saudi Arabia, but his arrival has been delayed due to certain reasons
- The South African tactician is also still linked with a move to Premier Soccer League side, Kaizer Chiefs
- The 59-year-old manager has been without a coaching role since parting ways with UAE side, Al Wahda
Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane, has reportedly agreed on terms with Abha Club in Saudi Arabia, although Kaizer Chiefs are still believed to be showing interest.
However, some reports have also indicated that the South African tactician said 'no' to the Amakhosi and seems determined to return to the Middle East.
Abha Club are currently battling relegation in the Saudi Pro League and are looking for redemption, with the hope that Mosimane can somehow save their season.
According to a report by Saudi media outlet, Arriyadiyah, per Soccer Laduma, Mosimane's move to Saudi Arabia was delayed due to specific travel issues, but reports confirmed he was expected to land in the Middle Eastern nation this week.
"South African manager, Pitso Mosimane's arrival has been delayed due to flight conditions and he's expected to arrive in the next two days," the publication stated.
The former Al Ahly coach is also expected to meet Abha Club's top officials to finalise his contract before formally assuming his duties.
Mosimane's decision to return to the Saudi Pro League will come as bad news for Kaizer Chiefs, who were hoping to appoint him as their permanent manager after the departure of Molefi Ntseki.
The AmaKhosi would have to consider other options on the list if the Saudi Pro League side officially confirms Mosimane's move to Abha Club.
