However, a peculiar moment unfolded when Rudiger clashed with his former Blues teammate, Morata, per a post on social media.

The two had spent 18 months together at Stamford Bridge before Morata's loan move to Atletico. However, Rudiger showed no mercy to his former teammate.

It began when the Atleti player was berating a match official over a decision. As he approached the referee, the German walked alongside him, openly laughing.

Rudiger then unexpectedly pinched Morata's chest. The striker was taken aback by the bizarre act and pushed Rudiger away with both hands, displaying a look of utter disgust.

However, just before half-time, Antoine Griezmann took the score to 2-2. In the 78th minute, Atletico once again took the lead with the defender's inadvertent own goal.

However, Real Madrid found a saviour in Dani Carvajal, who scored an 85th-minute equaliser to bring the score to 3-3.

Los Blancos then secured the victory in extra time, with Joselu finding the net in the 116th minute and Brahim Diaz sealing the deal in the second minute of injury time.
