Four Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clubs have chosen to skip the upcoming 2024 FKF Cup (Mozzart Bet Cup) edition.

This annual event grants the victors a coveted trophy and serves as a pathway to entry into the CAF Confederation Cup.

36 clubs have confirmed their involvement in this year’s edition, scheduled to kick off on January 27, 2024, with a preliminary round.

FKF Premier League sides Muhoroni Youth, Murang'a Seal, Nzoia Sugar, and Nairobi City Stars will be absent from the tournament.

This, however, has created an unexpected opportunity for other clubs to leave their mark on this prestigious competition.

Despite these notable withdrawals, the 2024 FKF Cup promises to be fiercely contested with the participation of 14 FKF Premier League clubs. Among them are defending champions Kakamega Homeboyz, AFC Leopards, Bandari, Ulinzi Stars, Tusker, Sofapaka, Shabana, Posta Rangers, Kenya Police KCB. Kariobangi Sharks, Gor Mahia, FC Talanta and Bidco United, as reported by Pulse Sports.

Adding to the diversity of the tournament, the tournament will also showcase a mix of teams from different tiers of Kenyan football.

Mara Sugar, Kajiado FC, Mara Sugar, SS Assad, Mombasa Stars and Silibwet Leon, all from the National Super League (NSL) will be competing.

Four clubs from FKF Division One, namely MOFA, Compel Sports Club, Zetech Titans and Vegpro, will also participate in the tournament.

The regional representation is equally impressive, with 12 teams from various parts of Kenya.

They include Meru County’s Al Alzizia, Kisii County’s Bomachoge Borabu, Bumbani Stars from Kwale, Bungoma Stars, Eldoro Sports Club Villa from Taita Taveta, Busia County’s Harvest of Hope Africa, Marafiki FC from Nyeri County, Nyamira Super Eagles, PAC University from Nairobi, Naivasha’s Shalimar FC, Uzalendo FC from Machakos and the Wisdom Soccer Academy from Kitale, as reported by Football Kenya.

Anticipation is building as the draw for the tournament is scheduled for January 17, 2024.

The quarter-finals will occur on April 27 and 28, 2024, with the semi-finals scheduled for May 25 and 26, 2024.

The grand finale is slated for June 6, 2024.
