  • Napoli continue the downhill trend under Walter Mazzarri
  • The defending Serie A champions lost 3-0 away to Torino
  • Italian manager Antonio Conte was spotted at the stadium

Napoli will be seriously considering parting ways with Walter Mazzarri after just three months in charge, and fans think they know who they are hiring next after he was spotted in the stadium.

Luciano Spalletti led the Neapolitans to their first Serie A title in 33 years last season but left the club almost immediately after a reported rift with club owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Rudi Garcia was then appointed but only lasted months after a poor run of results with former boss Mazzarri, who managed the club between 2009 and 2014, appointed seemingly out of nowhere.

Per IFTV, since his appointment, he has overseen ten games - three wins, six losses, and one draw. The team has scored zero in the last four games and conceded nine goals.

Some fans believe Mazzarri is living on borrowed time as Napoli manager.

Conte fuels Napoli coaching rumours

Former Inter and Juventus boss, Antonio Conte was in the stands for Napoli’s embarrassing 3-0 loss to Torino, further sparking speculation that he is in the running to take over.

Conte, who has been without a job since he was sacked at Tottenham Hotspur, was contacted when Garcia was fired but he turned down the job, wanting to spend more time with his family.

Per CalcioNapoli24, fans approached him after the Napoli game against Torino and he dropped a hint that he could be in the dugout at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona in the near future.

"It can be done, but I want to do things well," he told the fans who asked if he would manage the club.

The conversation ended with the fans telling Conte that they would see him in Naples, to which he gave a coy smile.

Why clubs should avoid Conte

Sports Brief previously analysed why top clubs should avoid hiring Conte after his recent departure from Tottenham, as a result of his vitriolic remarks towards the club.

His high wage demands, poor talent identity and recruitment, and inability to adapt to situations are among reasons why European clubs should avoid hiring the Italian.
