  • Noni Madueke was on target for Chelsea against Luton on Saturday
  • The winger was recently criticized by his manager Mauricio Pochettino
  • Chelsea fans now believe Pochettino’s criticism played a role in Madueke’s form

Chelsea fans all said the same thing after Noni Madueke scored his second goal in as many games for the Blues.

After a hard-fought 2-1 win over Crystal Palace the last time out, Chelsea were looking to make it two Premier League wins in a row when they travelled to Luton.

The hosts contained Chelsea in the opening exchanges with a high press but eventually fell behind thanks to some terrible defending.

A poor clearance was hit straight into the path of former Manchester City man Cole Palmer, who made no mistake with a menacing strike in the 12th minute to give his side the lead.

It was Noni Madueke’s turn to thrill Chelsea fans with a fine finish in the 37th minute as the winger rounded off a brilliant team move with a powerful strike that proved too powerful for Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.

Chelsea fans’ take on Madueke

Immediately the scores read 2-0, Madueke was a trending topic on social media for all the right reasons.

After just one goal in 19 appearances, the England international has now found the net twice in his last two Premier League appearances.

Fans believe his good form is down to Madueke’s positive reception of Mauricio Pochettino’s recent criticism.

Pochettino was critical of the winger on December 22, claiming the influx of players in his position should act as motivation for the 21-year-old to play better.

“Noni is in a position where there's massive competition, too many players… he needs to compete and raise his level”. “The competition here is serious. We need top level in training to play on regular basis” Pochettino said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Here are some reactions from fans after Madueke’s goal against Luton.

@JohyanCruyff said:

"I’ve criticised Poch for many things but I actually think his handling of Madueke has been brilliant, wasn’t tracking back much & weak foot was poor so drops him almost to make a point, Noni has clearly worked hard on it behind the scenes & you can see the improvement."

@RealistGlizzy added:

"Madueke got called out by Poch in the media like 3 times, trained hard and now got 2 goals in 2. Certain wingers should take note."

@s_mofficial noted:

"Madueke's training performance was questioned by Poch, guess what, he released no note, got back to work, got his chance and now has 2 goals in 2 consecutive matches. You know what I'm saying."
