  • Cavin Johson has shared his thoughts about Kaizer Chiefs' current form in the PSL
  • The AmaKhosi are currently on three-game consecutive wins in the DStv Premiership
  • The Glamour Boys are still eleven points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs' interim manager, Cavin Johnson, has disclosed why the Glamour Boys struggled at the beginning of the season in the Premier Soccer League.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach has been in charge of the AmaKhosi since Molefi Ntseki left the club a few months ago.

Chiefs are still searching for a permanent manager but are getting positive results under their interim manager.

Johnson, in a recent interview according to iDiskiTimes, claimed his team were bullied at the beginning of the season, but they have put that behind them.

"You remember when the league started, people were bullying [Kaizer] Chiefs, and remember that is the cloth I was talking about; we need to make sure we get to that level, and getting there is major; it will take us a while to get there," he said.

The Glamour Boys' recent good form in the league has paid off as they move to sixth on the DStv Premiership table.

The AmaKhosi's 1-0 win over Richards Bay over the weekend at the FNB Stadium put them level on points with fifth-place Stellenbosch.

Chiefs are still eleven points behind defending champions and league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, with the Brazilians still having three outstanding games.

Johnson's side would hope to continue their good run in the South African league when they come up against Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium this Saturday.

Mosimane speaks on Chiefs’ trophy drought

Sports Brief also previously reported on Pitso Mosimane discussing Kaizer Chiefs' trophy drought and the possibility of taking over their vacant coaching post.

The struggling AmaKhosi are presently being managed by Cavin Johnson on an interim basis and are still in search of a permanent replacement for Molefi Ntseki.

Kaizer Chiefs remained without a trophy over the past eight seasons, with their last title coming in the 2014/15 Premier Soccer League campaign that they won.
