Victor Osimhen produced a brilliant assist-one of the best so far this season- to set up Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's winning goal as Napoli overcame Cagliari on Saturday, December 16.

Fresh from winning the Africa Player of the Year award, the Super Eagles forward opened the scoring for Walter Mazzarri's side in the 69th minute after a goalless first half.

According to Talk Sport, Napoli conceded the equaliser just three minutes later through veteran striker Leonardo Pavoletti before Osimhen took over and ran the show for the reigning Serie A champions.

The 24-year-old forward received the ball inside the area from Giacomo Raspadori and flicked it onto his chest before completing numerous kick-ups in the middle of the area while holding off two defenders.

Osimhen would then head the ball down before stretching out to fire it in the direction of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who slid the ball into the back of the net from close range.

Napoli went on to win the game 2-1, moving them up to fourth position in the Serie A table, with fifth and sixth-placed Bologna and Roma meeting on Sunday.

Arsenal makes contact with Osimhen

Meanwhile, Arsenal have made contact with Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, over a potential transfer of the Super Eagles forward as they look to bolster their strikeforce, Sports Bible reports.

The Gunners are hoping to add one more elite striker to their ranks, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah the only two recognised centre-forwards in their team at the moment.

It has been reported during the summer that Napoli would demand around €200 million to sell Osimhen - meaning the 24-year-old would likely have to push for a way out of the Italian giants if he were to complete a move to Arsenal.

Osimhen presents POTY award to fans

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen presented his Africa Player of the Year award to fans of Napoli before their Serie A game against Cagliari on Saturday.

The Super Eagles star was crowned the 2023 CAF best player after an outstanding year with the Italian outfit, leading them to the Scudetto title for the first time in 33 years.

Osimhen beat competition from Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi of Morocco to win the award.
