  • Manchester United were eliminated in the Champions League after losing to Bayern Munich
  • The Red Devils have 22 matches remaining in the Premier League to salvage their season
  • They will face Wigan Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup next year

The worst-case scenario for Manchester United happened on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils finished bottom of Group A after their loss to Bayern Munich, meaning they’re out of the Champions League and will not be transferred to the Europa League.

The 2023-24 season is far from over, though, for the Red Devils and their supporters.

Sports Brief looks at United's upcoming Premier League and FA Cup fixtures.

Man United's Premier League Schedule

United need to regroup fast and shift their focus to their Premier League campaign. Their main goal right now is to finish in the top four and secure a spot in the Champions League next season.

They are currently in sixth place with 27 points from 16 matches.

The Red Devils trail league leaders Liverpool by 10 points. The two sides will face each other this coming Sunday in an all-important showdown at Anfield.

The notable games for United in the second half of the season are trips to Manchester City and Chelsea and home matches against Arsenal and Tottenham.

They still have to face red-hot Aston Villa twice this season, including a Boxing Day showdown at Old Trafford.

Wigan vs Man Utd in FA Cup

After losing to Newcastle United in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup, the only remaining domestic cup competition for Manchester United is the FA Cup.

The draw for the third round has already been made, with the Red Devils squaring off against Wigan Athletic.

Manchester United will visit DW Stadium on January 8, 2024, with the primetime game set to kick off at 20:15 GMT.

Should a replay be required for this third-round tie, that match will be scheduled for the week commencing January 15, 2024.

The main date of the fourth round proper of the 2024 FA Cup will be January 27.

Man Utd's worst Champions League performances

Sports Brief recently reported on Manchester United's worst performances in the Champions League group stage.

They became the first Premier League club to finish bottom of a Champions League group twice.

That happened this season after their loss to Bayern and the 2005-06 campaign.
