Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen stole the show at the 2023 CAF Awards after showing his dancing moves towards the end of the event.

The Napoli striker was named the Player of the Year in Africa following an impressive year with the Italian giants and the Super Eagles.

Osimhen led the Naples club to their first league title in 33 years while also winning the Golden Boot, becoming the first African to achieve the feat.

The Napoli striker became the fifth Nigerian to win the Player of the Year award, following in the footsteps of Rashidi Yekini and Nwankwo Kanu.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Osimhen was also spotted dancing with the famous Ghetto Kids while French-Congolese singer, Dadju performed his hit songs.

The FIFA U17 World Cup winner shared his excitement after winning the award, paying tribute to the coach who discovered him, Emmanuel Amuneke.

"First of all, I want to thank God. I also want to thank Emmanuel Amuneke without whom I wouldn't be here," he said during his acceptance speech.
"I thank Emmanuel Adebayor and everyone who helped me in my career and of course, my role model Didier Drogba," an excited Osimhen added.

Osimhen nominated for Globe Soccer Awards

Sports Brief also reported that newly-crowned African Player of the Year, Osimhen has bagged another nomination for a global sports award.

The Super Eagles and Napoli star has been shortlisted for the 2023 Globe Soccer Awards to be held in Dubai in January next year.

Osimhen will face competition from some of the best players in the world, including the veteran duo of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Osimhen pays tribute to African legends

Sports Brief also reported that Osimhen paid tribute to African football legends who played a role in shaping his career after winning 'Player of the Year'.

At the 2023 CAF Awards, the Napoli star fended off Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Morocco's Achraf Hakimi to win the award for the first time in Marrakech.

With his award success, Osmihen became the fifth Nigerian to win the prize, following in the footsteps of legends like Rashidi Yekini and Emmanuel Amuneke.
