Alejandro Garnacho has been brutally told he is trying too hard to be lie Cristian Ronaldo.

The Argentine youngster has never made his admiration for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner a secret, and is often seen performing Ronaldo’s goal celebrations as a way of paying tribute to his idol.

In his last two games, Garnacho has found the net, including scoring an incredible bicycle kick against Everton over the weekend.

After his goal, Garnacho proceeded to celebrate using the famous ‘Siiu’ goal celebration, conspicuously showing his love for Ronaldo.

Days later, he found the net against Galatasaray in the Champions League and did Ronaldo’s controversial ‘Calma’ celebration.

While it is never a bad thing to have a player to look up to early in your career, former Liverpool man Mark Lawrenson thinks Garnacho may be overdoing it.

Ahead of United’s crunch game against Newcastle United, Lawrenson commented on the 19-year old, saying he should focus on getting the best out of himself since “he will never be like Ronaldo”.

“Alejandro Garnacho needs to just be himself and play his own game. He’s never going to be Cristiano Ronaldo!” Lawrenson told Paddy Power.
The former Liverpool man added: “He’s not going to score a wonder goal every week, but he has to be a seven or eight out of ten each week – he can do it.”
