Zenit Mocks Manchester United After Disappointing Champions League Performance Against Galatasaray

Manchester United squandered their opportunity to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, settling for a lacklustre draw against Galatasaray.

Despite initially taking a two-goal lead with strikes from Alejandro Garnacho and captain Bruno Fernandes, Erik ten Hag’s side were pegged back by a free kick from Chelsea loanee, Hakim Ziyech.

Although Scott McTominay extended United's lead with his first career UCL goal, as reported by The Guardian, Ziyech once again narrowed the deficit with another free kick, which went in courtesy of an unfortunate error from goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

Ziyech then set up Karem Akturkoglu, who skillfully levelled the score for Okan Buruk's side.

The outcome meant Man United's progression from the group stage is no longer solely in their hands. They now depend on the result of the FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray fixture ending in a draw for their qualification.

While the results of the encounter have angered many fans of the club, Russian Premier League club, Zenit St Petersburg have taken to social media to remind the Red Devils of their impending fate.

The Russian club, which has made a habit of taunting clubs that have performed below expectations, took to TikTok to remind Man United of their likely relegation to the UEFA Europa League.

The Simpson-themed video has sparked a flurry of reactions, and many Man United fans have been left to live with the agony that comes with the trolling.

This is not the first time the Russian club have trolled other clubs as recently they took to social media to mock another Premier League club, Chelsea.

Zenit trolls Chelsea on TikTok

Following their 3-1 victory against Krylya Sovetov, Zenit took to TikTok to celebrate their win on the night by posting a video of their third goal.

The RPL club humorously labelled the video as 'a perfect ten 10', slyly referencing Chelsea's position in the Premier League table at the time.
