According to Whoscored, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has contributed to 12 goals in both the UEFA Champions League and La Liga since the commencement of the 2023/24 season.

Despite a controversial return from Barcelona, Griezmann, now 32, has acknowledged his struggle to regain the love and trust of the Atletico fan base. Nevertheless, he is leveraging his experience and skill to lead Atletico this season.

In an exclusive interview with Spanish outlet Marca, Griezmann shared his aspirations for the club and reflected on the 2018 Ballon d'Or snub.

Greizmann on his goal with Atleti

Speaking on his immediate goals with Atletico, Griezmann expressed his motivation to become a significant figure at the club and a legend in the long term.

He stated, "I'm motivated to be someone important at Atletico, to be a legend at this club. I know I have to earn it." He also revealed his desire to win La Liga this season, a title that has eluded him so far.

Speaking about the Ballon d'Or award, Greizmann was asked:

"Do you think you deserved the Ballon d’Or in 2018? The 32-year-old responded with an emphatic “Yes.”

The 2018 Ballon d'Or remains another edition of the football award that divided opinions amongst many, with Real Madrid's Luka Modric pipping both Cristiano Ronaldo and Greizmann to the prize.

As the 2023-24 campaign unfolds, Griezmann's exceptional performance once again positions him as a contender for the France Football Award in the upcoming 2024 edition.
