A new list has ranked the top 10 richest football managers in the world.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp, and Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid are among the best-paid managers.

According to Planet Football, Simeone is currently the highest-earning tactician, with the Argentine believed to be pocketing an annual salary of €34m.

Guardiola ranks second with €22m, while Klopp, Steven Gerrard, and Juve's Massimiliano Allegri complete the top five podium.

While annual wages do not necessarily translate to riches, Klopp and Guardiola still do make the list of the wealthiest managers in the world.

Rooney tops list of richest managers

In a list cited by Sportbible, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney tops the list of the wealthiest managers in the world.

The former England international is understood to have a net worth of £125 million after an illustrious career, largely as a player.

Rooney was among the best-paid players during his time at Old Trafford, with the legendary forward also making a fortune from endorsement deals.

He has since transitioned into football management, initially taking charge of MLS side DC United, before he was recently appointed Birmingham City boss.

Simeone is placed second on the managers' rich list with a net worth of £102 million, while Jose Mourinho ranks third with £100 million.

Wenger, Fergie make managers' rich list

Meanwhile, the rich list also features legendary managers Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson.

The duo dominated the Premier League for years, and are widely regarded among the greatest managers of all time.

Incredibly, they are they only two managers who are currently not active in management who made the list.

Wenger, who has since gone into football administration with world governing body FIFA, ranks 10th with a net worth of £38 million.

On his part, Fergie is placed seventh ahead of Carlo Ancelotti with a net worth of £56 million.

Rooney slammed over post-match comments

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Wayne Rooney has been accused of “watching a different game” by Birmingham fans following his comments on the team in the wake of their latest defeat.
