Atletico Madrid's forward, Samuel Omorodion, is focused on pledging allegiance to Spain.

Despite his dual eligibility, Omorodion has explicitly stated his intention to play for the former European champions.

In expressing gratitude for the opportunities Spain has afforded him, he emphasized his commitment to debuting with the senior side and building his career in the country.

“Spain has given me the opportunity and I am very grateful for it. I don’t think about Nigeria. My goal is to debut with the senior side and have my career in Spain.”

Omorodion has already showcased his skills by representing Spain at the U-19 and U-21 levels.

While Nigeria currently boasts a strong lineup of forwards, his immediate services may not be actively pursued. Nevertheless, the door remains open for potential future considerations.

Who is Samu Omorodion?

Omorodion was born in Melilla, Spain, to Nigerian parents in 2004. He began his career playing for Sevilla's youth side before moving to Granada in 2021.

The youngster made his La Liga debut against Atletico Madrid this season and scored in his team's 3-1 loss to Diego Simeone's side.

The 19-year-old's performance in the game led to his transfer to the Rojiblancos but he was immediately loaned to Deportivo Alaves for the rest of the season.

Since joining Alaves, Omorodion has scored three goals in 11 games in La Liga this season.

He is eligible to represent the Super Eagles due to his Nigerian parents and the Spanish national team since he was born in Spain.

He has represented La Roja at the youth level, featuring for the under-19 and the under-21 sides.

Omorodion scores against Nigeria

Sports Brief earlier reported that Samu Omorodion scored one of the fastest goals in La Liga history after finding the back of the net in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Deportivo Alaves at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Sunday afternoon.

The former Granada striker pounced on Javi Lopez's cross to give Alaves the lead after 18 seconds, but Robert Lewandowski's brace gave the Catalans a hard-fought win over the away side.

Spanish-born striker, Omorodion has been one of the sensations in the Spanish league this season, with his performance earning him a move to a top-tier side in the last summer transfer window.
