  • Roberto Firmino has opened up on his Liverpool days
  • The Brazilian was part of a deadly attacking trio which led Liverpool to success
  • Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were key figures at Anfield alongside Firmino

Former Liverpool forward Roberto Firminho has opened up on the relationship between his former teammates Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Firminho, Mane, and Salah formed an incredible attacking trio during their days at Liverpool, leading the Reds to domestic and European success.

With the three up front, Liverpool won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, and the UEFA Champions League.

However, the attacking trio's main protagonists, Salah and Mane, did not see eye-to-eye, according to Firminho.

"Tense moments usually passed quickly. In the next game, one would be passing the ball to the other – or passing it to me, who would then pass it to the other – and we’d be celebrating another goal for our team," he wrote in his book Si Senor: My Liverpool Years, as quoted by talkSPORT.
"Together. Salah and Mane had had their little problems before, but that time, everything happened on the field, there for the world to see. That day, at Burnley, the lid came off.
"Their argument wasn’t funny. Potentially, it could have caused problems for us. Maybe the Boss [Jurgen Klopp] and some others were worried."

Mane left Liverpool in the summer of 2023 to join Bayern Munich before Firminho left a year later to sign for Al-Ahli. After a torrid one season in Germany, the Senegalese moved to the Saudi Pro League to sign for Al-Nassr, as reported by the BBC.

"They were never best friends; each kept himself to himself. It was rare to see the two of them talking and I’m not sure if that had to do with the Egypt–Senegal rivalry in African competitions," added Firmino.
"I truly don’t know. But they also never stopped talking, never severed ties. They always acted with the utmost professionalism."

Mane reunites with Jordan Henderson in Saudi Arabia

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Sadio Mane and former Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson were reunited after the game between Al-Nassr and Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi King Cup round of 16 clash.

The Senegalese forward netted the only goal as the Knights of Najd progressed to the quarter-finals after edging their rivals in an epic encounter.

Al-Nassr played most of the game with ten men after Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca was sent off in the first half.
