Kaizer Chiefs sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Junior has explained how the recent wins of the South African rugby and cricket teams have inspired the Amakhosi to dominate the Premier Soccer League (PSL) again.

The Springboks won the 2023 Rugby World Cup in Paris, France, while the Proteas are in the semi-finals of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup and are yet to know their next opponent.

The Boks were hosted by Chiefs at the FNB Stadium last week and also had the Africa Cup of Nations trophy tour at their base.

Motaung Junior, in a recent interview, claimed that the Amakhosi could draw inspiration from the recent successes of both teams, according to GOAL, as per FAR Post.

"It is a great motivation when you see the nation winning. It’s got to inspire you," he said.
"Everyone can see the importance of coming together and having a purpose, and you can see in those moments how sports with a purpose and a bigger dream influence individuals; you cannot buy that."

The Amakhosi's sporting director went further to claim that it would be wrong if the club were not going to be motivated by the recent triumphs of the cricket and rugby teams.

"If you are not going to get motivated by the Springboks making history or the Proteas, I think you are in the wrong space," he added.

Chiefs to pursue criminal charges against fans

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs were inevitably punished by the Premier Soccer League.

The club was given a hefty fine and a suspended punishment in early October following misbehaviour by their fans, with a zero-tolerance warning about any further indiscretions.

Due to the financial and reputational losses incurred by the club, they are pursuing charges of public violence and malicious damage to property against the projectile throwers.
