Stellenbosch FC are gearing themselves up for a big clash with Polokwane City in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals.

Stellenbosch FC captain and defender, Deano van Rooyen has stated that his team are going to Polokwane with only victory in their sights.

Van Rooyen added the win away from home against Chippa United has given them the confidence to travel and come home with results.

In a press release issued by the club, the skipper commented:

"We know it’s going to be a difficult game and that they are going to come out fully focused, but we are prepared for whatever they bring at us."

The Maroons head coach, Steve Barker is using the disappointment of recent semi-final cup exits as motivation for the players to go those needed extra steps.

Stellenbosch were eliminated by Sekhukhune United in last season's Nedbank Cup and lost to Orlando Pirates in this season's MTN8, despite beating the Buccaneers 1-0 in the second leg.

Barker was more than pragmatic, however, acknowledging the quality of the other teams. Stellenbosch FC's official site quoted Barker as saying:

"That pain that we felt in the last two cup competitions is driving us. That is the aim, to go as far as we can and lift the trophy. It would be great for us as a team to lift the inaugural Carling Knockout, but before we get there, there are a couple of hurdles left."
