The first Der Klassiker (Clasico) of the season is around the corner.

Borussia Dortmund will welcome Bayern Munich to Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, November 4, for what promises to be another exciting clash between two of Germany’s biggest sides.

Both sides go into the game unbeaten this season and separated by just two points.

With new signings joining both German giants in the summer, Sports Brief looks at five players who will get their first taste of this epic rivalry.

Bayern Munich

Harry Kane

There was a void in Bayern Munich’s attacking department when Robert Lewandowski left the club, but Harry Kane is helping to fill it.

Having scored 14 goals in just 13 games this season, according to Transfermarkt, the Englishman has hit the ground running at his new club. Gelling well with the likes of Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane, Kane even grabbed a hat-trick during his last Bundesliga outing.

Having competed in the London derby while a member of Tottenham Hotspur, Kane is no stranger to competing in big games involving rivals. The attacker has never won a trophy as yet, for club and country, but could break that duck with his new side.

Mathys Tel

Tel may only be 18, but he’s already proven to be a valuable member of Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Used predominantly as a substitute, the youngster has stepped up when called upon and bagged 12 goals in 42 appearances for the side since joining from Stade Rennais FC.

With Kane leading the line so well for Munich, chances are limited for the young centre-forward, but he could make an appearance off the bench against Dortmund. He missed last season’s game between the two sides through injury but is fully fit now.

Min-jae Kim

Having joined from Napoli in the summer, Kim is no stranger to high-pressure games.

The South Korean international was a huge reason why the Italian side conceded just 28 goals in the league on their way to the Serie A title, and he now brings that experience to Germany.

His exceptional performances for Napoli were recognised when he finished relatively high up for a defender on the Ballon d’Or list.

Borussia Dortmund

Niclas Füllkrug

At 30 years old, Füllkrug isn’t the biggest star on the list, but he is proof that perseverance will get you to where you want to be.

Füllkrug proved he could be a threat in front of goal when he scored 19 goals in the 2021/22 campaign for Werder Bremen. He helped them gain promotion before scoring 16 goals in the top flight. Dortmund came calling, and Füllkrug couldn’t say no.

As noted by Goal, Füllkrug also made a name for himself in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, scoring two goals for the German national side in the tournament.

Felix Nmecha

Nmecha has some big shoes to fill, and an impressive performance in Der Klassiker could go a long way to doing that.

A product of the Manchester City youth squad, the 23-year-old was brought in as a replacement for the departing Jude Bellingham. Nmecha has already notched up two assists in the Bundesliga and has even scored a winner in the UEFA Champions League already.

Nmecha missed Dortmund’s last fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt due to a muscular injury but should feature against their title rivals if he can recover in time for the game.

Harry Kane scores wonder goal for Munich

Harry Kane has given Bayern Munich fans something to savour.

The Englishman scored a cracking goal near the halfway line as Bayern ran riot against SV Darmstadt.

Bayern scored eight goals in the second half, with Kane grabbing three, Sports Brief reported.
