Inter Miami star Lionel Messi was genuinely surprised by a fan’s guts after the chap attempted to take a picture with the Argentine while holding a Cristiano Ronaldo shirt.

Messi and Ronaldo are considered two of the greatest players ever to grace the game, as they have been at the pinnacle of football for 15 years.

Their unrelenting passion and success in the game have inevitably led to fans picking sides on who is the better player, and the world these days is divided into two factions: Team Messi and Team Ronaldo.

Messi currently plays for Inter Miami in the MLS, while Cristiano Ronaldo plies his trade in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr.

Because of their rivalry, it is practically impossible for Messi and Ronaldo to go anywhere without being reminded of the other.

This was the case in a video shared by @TimelineCR7 on X which showed Messi’s priceless reaction to a fan who held up a Cristiano Ronaldo shirt while attempting to take a photo.

As reported on SportBible, the awkward video captured the moment Messi noted his rival’s shirt. He stared down at the fan before ignoring his attempts to take a photo.

Messi favourite for Ballon d’Or

Meanwhile, all eyes will be at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris as Messi gears up to win his 8th Ballon d’Or.

The 36-year-old is an overwhelming favourite, and has been tipped to beat Manchester City’s goal machine Erling Haaland, who won the treble last season.

Messi’s key factor in his Ballon d’Or ranking was his success at the Qatar World Cup where he guided Argentina to a first win since 1986.

Haaland names one Messi attribute he wants

Sports Brief also reported on Erling Haaland’s take on a Lionel Messi attribute he wishes he possessed.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward possesses the ability to delete opponents and has an eye for goals and passes. At the same time, the Premier League star is reputable for his positioning and goal-scoring.

Speaking to L'Equipe, Haaland was asked to pick an attribute he admired in another player and his answer showed his class because he was allowed to mention any player.

"I wish I had Messi's dribbling. It's quite a good choice, isn't it?" he said.
