FootballRomelu Lukaku: Inter Milan Ultras Threaten Roma Striker Over Summer Transfer Saga
- Romelu Lukaku is set to return to the San Siro for the first time since joining AS Roma
- Lukaku has had two spells with the Nerazzurri but opted against a third return last summer
- Inter Milan ultras are angry at how his transfer to Rome turned out and vowed to show him
Romelu Lukaku will be a man in the spotlight when Inter Milan and AS Roma lock horns at the San Siro on Sunday after the transfer debacle involving him and the club in the summer.
Lukaku has been problematic with clubs he has played for since joining Chelsea in 2021 and has played for different sides in each of his last three seasons.
He was close to a permanent return to Inter over the summer, but a last-minute call ghosting fiasco collapsed the deal, and he joined Jose Mourinho at Roma.
Inter ultras threaten Lukaku
Per Gazzetta dello Sport, ahead of Roma's trip to league leaders Inter on Sunday, the Curva Sud ultras have threatened the Belgian forward about the atmosphere he will face.
They confirmed that they'll be distributing 30,000 whistles to fans to boo him each time he touches the ball to vent their anger over his attitude during the transfer window.
“Booing him is the way we make him understand that this is no longer his home. First, he was the master, now he is an unwanted guest. Inter fans consider him a traitor and therefore a villain, and in Milan, he will have the welcome he deserves,” a part of the statement reads.
“We are insulting the man, we are judging his behaviour towards us, and we are absolutely not thinking about the colour of his skin.”
Per GIFN, the gesture they plan to demonstrate was previously done by Fiorentina fans, who used 10,000 whistles to boo Dusan Vlahovic last year.

FootballDirector Tiago Pinto, via Roma Press, defended the Chelsea striker, saying the Inter fans have nothing to be angry about as they celebrated Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Edin Dzeko's switch from Rome to Milan.
Mourinho to miss Inter clash
Sports Brief reported that Mourinho was red-carded against Monza for his touchline antics during Roma's slim 1-0 victory over AC Monza.
The Special One made a crying gesture and insulted his opponent's manager and bench, which got him a straight red in the final moments, and he will now miss the game against his former club, Inter Milan.
