  • Jose Mourino was back in the referees' crosshairs after he was sent off on Sunday afternoon
  • Mourinho was sent off in the dying minutes of the AS Roma vs Monza clash
  • And just like last season, he will now be absent from the touchline when they face Inter Milan at San Siro

Jose Mourinho picked up another red card in the Serie A after he was sent off in stoppage time of AS Roma's clash against Monza on October 22.

Mourinho has just watched his side break down a resilient 10-man Monza side at the Stadio Olimpico after Stephan El Sharaawy volleyed from close range to break the deadlock.

Monza were reduced to 10 men four minutes before the break after veteran Danilo D'Ambrosio was sent off for two bookable offences.

Raffaele Palladino's charges, however, managed to keep the Giallarossi at bay before El Shaarawy sunk their hearts off the bench.

Why Mourinho was sent off vs Monza

The seven additional minutes dragged on until the 100th minute, with Mourinho and Palladino getting involved in a touchline confrontation. The Monza manager appeared to remonstrate with the referee before Mourinho made a 'cry baby' gesture towards his direction.

Roma Press reports that the 60-year-old was caught telling Palladino,

“You talk a lot and then you cry.”

Referee Giovanni Ayroldi gave the Portuguese tactician a straight red card before ending the game a few seconds later.

Mourinho will now miss his side's trip to Milan to face his former team, Inter Milan, next week.

Mourinho vs Rafaelle Palladino

The former Chelsea manager had a long-standing issue with Palladino when their two sides met in May. It was the game where he hilariously claimed that he had a hidden microphone to record everything. After the game, Palladino tore into Mourinho, calling his actions 'outrageous.'

Speaking ahead of the Sunday afternoon clash, Mourinho declined to respond to Palladino's comments, saying he won't 'lower himself to his level' as reported by Football Italia.

Mourinho's comment on Europa League final

Sports Brief reported on Jose Mourinho's audacious claim about last season's final as his team regrouped for another attempt to win the competition.

Roma lost the final under controversial conditions to Sevilla in Budapest last season, and the Special One insists his team did not lose the game and he'd continue to hold on to that claim.
