  • Lionel Messi's bodyguard made the day of a young pitch invader on October 7
  • The bodyguard has made a name for himself for being no-nonsense by dealing swiftly with pitch invaders
  • He, however, had a different reaction moments after Messi's side had lost to Cincinnati

Lionel Messi's bodyguard showed a rare side of him after he allowed a pitch invader to have a moment with the Inter Miami star.

Messi has made headlines ever since he moved to the Major League Soccer in July, but so has his bodyguard. The security man was reportedly hired by David Beckham himself to protect the Argentine from overzealous fans.

Sports Illustrated reports that he does by the name Yassine Chueko and he is a former navy seal. Chueko is always spotted close to Messi, rebuffing attempts by intruders trying to get close to the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

He is basically Messi's shadow, and even on the rare occasions Messi agrees to take photos with fans, Chueko is always readily available to ensure that no one touches the former Barcelona captain.

But on October 7, he seemingly had a change of heart minutes after Inter Miami had lost to Cincinnati. The game marked Messi's return from injury after missing four games.

What did Messi's bodyguard do to the pitch invader?

He was introduced in the second half, taking over the armband from Sergio Busquets, but remained helpless as his side lost 1-0.

After the game, a young boy evaded stewards and made his way towards Messi, but Chueko was sharp, as he always is, stopping him in his tracks.

But rather than hand him back to stadium security, the ex-navy seal personally escorted the invader to Messi and stood by as the young man got his few seconds of fame.

Messi took a selfie with the kid before signing an autograph - the two things he wanted so badly that he decided to risk it all.

Afterwards, Chueko led him away in what makes for wholesome viewing.

Messi nominated for two MLS awards

Sports Brief has also reported that Lionel Messi has been nominated for two Major League Soccer Awards as the regular season nears its conclusion.

Messi's name has been fronted for both the Most Valuable Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year awards, despite joining less than three months ago.

The Inter Miami skipper has been nominated despite featuring only four times in the league since joining.
