  • Hudson-Odoi and Nketiah remain eligible to play for Ghana

Former Chelsea left-back, Ryan Bertrand has advised the Ghana Football Association to continue their pursuit of English-born duo, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah.

Both Hudson-Odoi and Nketiah have held talks with the federation but a decision is yet to be made.

Nketiah made his England debut in a friendly against Australia in October, but the doors remain open for the Arsenal star since he is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Three Lions.

Meanwhile, Hudson-Odoi has not played for England for almost three years and could switch nationality because of the new nationality change rules.

Bertrand has been in Ghana for the past week and in an interview with Ghana Web, he urged the FA to keep their doors open.

"You should not close the door on anyone, especially when fantastic people come to help the country through their performances," he said.
"There are certainly some fantastic players out there who still need a little time to think and establish their careers in Europe. It would be great if more and more of them decided to join the Black Stars."

Hudson-Odoi left Chelsea to join Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window, as reported by nottinghamforest.co.uk.

Hudson-Odoi set for nationality switch

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Callum Hudson-Odoi has disclosed that Ghana remains a 'very good' option for his international career despite making three senior appearances for the English national team.

The Nottingham Forest player became eligible to play for the Black Stars following changes in the nationality switch rules.

Having made his last senior appearance for England in 2019, Hudson-Odoi can now play for Ghana since he has not added any more caps to his Three Lions career.

Hughton in talks with Hudson-Odoi and Nketiah

Sports Brief also reported that Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton is in talks with Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi over switching their nationalities to represent Ghana.

Both players have Ghanaian parents, which would allow them to play for the African nation at an international level.

Nketiah is yet to play for the Three Lions at senior level, while Hudson-Odoi has made three appearances for England, but has not featured for the European country in over two years.
