USA Midfielder Yunus Musah Relishes 'Special' Game Against Parents Country Ghana

United States Men's Soccer Team midfielder, Yunus Musah is looking forward to playing against the country of his parents, Ghana, in an international friendly on October 17.

The AC Milan midfielder was born to Ghanaian parents in New York and was eligible to represent the West African nation before deciding to play for the Yankees.

Musah, who holds on strongly to his Ghanaian heritage, describes the friendly as a 'special match' for him and his family.

"It's really special because a lot of people from the Ghanaian community will be watching the game knowing I was eligible to play for Ghana and I have roots from there so it's a special game," he said in a pre-match presser.
"I have a lot of family as well from Ghana and they are all going to be watching," he added.

The former Valencia midfielder is hoping the United States will be able to bounce back from the defeat to Germany when they play the Black Stars at the GEODIS Park in Tennessee.

"They are different teams, obviously. Different qualities and as a said Germany is a completely different team to Ghana so we are trying to analyse them and trying to bounce off from the Germany game," he continued.

The United States will co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Mexico and Canada, as reported by fifa.com.

Musah shows Ghanaian heritage in AC Milan video

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that United States midfielder, Yunus Musah shared a beautiful video inspired by his heritage following his move to Italian giants AC Milan in the summer transfer window.

Musah was born to Ghanaian parents in New York and was eligible to play for the Black Stars and England but decided to represent the country of his birth.

The Arsenal Academy product sealed a move from Valencia to AC Milan following an outstanding campaign with the La Liga outfit.
