Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed that Ghana remains a 'very good' option for his international career despite making three senior appearances for the English national team.

The Nottingham Forest player became eligible to play for the Black Stars following changes in the nationality switch rules.

Having made his last senior appearance for England in 2019, Hudson-Odoi can now play for Ghana since he has not added any more caps to his Three Lions career.

The rule also allows the ex-Chelsea star to make the switch following a three-year period without playing for England, as reported by the BBC.

"That decision hasn’t been made yet. I’m still thinking it over. Ghana is a very good option but let’s wait and see," he told The Telegraph, as quoted by GHANASoccernet.

Hudson-Odoi was born to Ghanaian parents in England and has represented the European country at youth levels, winning the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2017.

However, injuries have affected his progress, forcing him to leave boyhood club Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

Ghana coach, Chris Hughton is reportedly in talks with the winger over his nationality switch before the Africa Cup of Nations next year.

Hughton contacts Hudson-Odoi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Hughton revealed that he has had talks with England-born duo, Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi over switching their nationalities to represent Ghana.

Both players have Ghanaian parents, which would allow them to play for the African nation at an international level.

Nketiah is yet to play for the Three Lions at senior level, while Hudson-Odoi has made three appearances for England, but has not featured for the European country in over two years.

Hudson-Odoi on injury woes

Hudson-Odoi has come out to explain his injury last season. He was absent for Chelsea, with head coach Thomas Tuchel giving no definitive date for his return.

He initially suffered from an Achilles injury, but it developed into something else. His last appearance of the season came in the FA Cup tie against Luton.

The England international has explained that he could not kick the ball past 10 yards after the injury, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
