Clashes between Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been a prominent fixture in the UEFA Champions League in recent years.
While the intensity of the rivalry has waned due to Bayern's overwhelming dominance, it remains an undeniable fact that these encounters still provide thrilling moments, keeping many fans on the edge of their seats.
According to data from UEFA.com, the last 13 meetings between these two teams have resulted in ten victories for the Bavarian club.
One of the standout moments was Bayern's spectacular seven-nil triumph in the 2013 UEFA Champions League semi-final, a performance recently discussed by club captain, Manuel Neuer.
Neuer on Bayern's emphatic win against Barcelona
In an interview with Prime Video Sport, the 37-year-old Neuer, manager Jupp Heynckes, and forward Thomas Muller reminisced about their resounding victory over Tito Villanova's Barcelona.
Bayern Munich faced Barcelona in the semi-final of the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League with the goal of redemption and securing a place in the final.
The previous year, the German club had suffered defeat in the final at the hands of Chelsea, a bitter memory they aimed to erase. They began this semi-final with a commanding 4-0 victory at the Allianz Arena before heading to the Camp Nou for the second leg.
To ensure that Barcelona had no chance of a comeback, Heynckes' team put on a performance for the ages, completely demoralising the La Liga giants and disrupting their famed "tiki-taka" style of play.
Neuer, reflecting on the game, remarked:
"They didn't know what was happening or why it was happening, and particularly in their stadium, they have a very wide pitch with a lot of possession, but we were on amazing form. We ran rings around them in a way I've rarely ever seen."

Neuer returns to training after skiing accident
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Bayern Munich’s search for a top-class goalkeeper may soon become a thing of the past following recent reports surrounding the availability of first-choice goalie, Manuel Neuer.
The German captain, who has been out of action following a skiing accident, has just handed Thomas Tuchel the perfect early-season boost the club would require as the transfer window draws to a close.
The 37-year-old shot-stopper took part in the club’s goalkeeper training for the first time since breaking his leg in a skiing accident in December.
