Bayern Munich’s search for a top-class goalkeeper may soon become a thing of the past following recent reports surrounding the availability of first-choice goalie, Manuel Neuer.

The German captain, who has been out of action following a skiing accident, has just handed Thomas Tuchel the perfect early-season boost the club would require as the transfer window draws to a close.

According to reports from the club’s official website, the 37-year-old shot-stopper took part in the club’s goalkeeper training on Monday for the first time since breaking his leg in a skiing accident in December.

Nueuer’s return comes as a timely boost for the Bavarian side, who have been in the market for a reliable replacement for their captain.

Bayern’s goalkeeping dilemma

Following the longtime injury Neuer sustained off the back of a disappointing World Cup with Germany in Qatar, the Bavarian club had resorted to a few makeshift options in goal, including Sven Ulriech and recently transferred Yann Sommer.

Since the start of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, backup Ulreich has been in goal for the first three games of Bayern’s season, including Sunday’s 3-1 win over Augsburg.

The club remain linked with a few goalkeepers in Europe, including free agent David De Gea, after the club missed out on Chelsea’s Kepa Arizzabalaga.

The Bundesliga giants also recently announced the signing of Israeli talent, Daniel Peretz from Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper is considered a long-term successor to the first-team goalkeeping position at the Allianz arena, according to a report from Bundesliga.com.

Harry Kane makes Bundesliga history

In a previous report, Sports Brief stated that Harry Kane has taken little time to settle in at Bayern Munich and is already firing on all cylinders.

The Englishman bagged a brace to help his team record their second straight Bundesliga win of the 2023/24 season against Augsburg.

With the brace on Sunday, Kane became the first English player to score in his first two Bundesliga games.
