Jose Mourinho has not let go of the incidents of the 2023 UEFA Europa League final against Sevilla, which Roma lost under controversial conditions.
Mourinho guided Roma to a second European final in two years, having won the UEFA Europa Conference League in his first season at the Italian capital club.
Roma were denied a late penalty in the final against Sevilla with the scores level at 1-1. The Italians went on to lose 4-1 on penalties, and the manager was visibly displeased.
As reported by Goal, the Special One ambushed English official Anthony Taylor in the parking lot, screaming explicit words at him, which earned him a four-game ban.
Mourinho insists Roma 'didn't lose'
“It’s a different season than last year, a different competition than the one we completed in Budapest,” he said.
“I will continue to say until the last day of my career and even after that we didn’t lose the final in Budapest. We didn’t lose the final in Budapest.”
In the aftermath of the final, his antics and punishment led to the former Manchester United boss quitting the UEFA board just two months in.
Giallorossi have started this season poorly, picking up one point from the first three games before an emphatic 7-0 victory over Empoli at the weekend.

The Special One has signed the player three times, having also signed him at former clubs Chelsea and Manchester United, but their relationship has broken down due to a sense of betrayal from the manager.
He was one of the team's most important players last season, forming a midfield partnership with Bryan Cristante.
