TS Galaxy star Bernard Parker has broken silence after Bongani Zungu’s Tackle during the Carling Knockout Cup clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The veteran player suffered a fracture after a late Bongani Zungu challenge in the 58th minute of the game.
Galaxy qualified for the next round of the tournament after knocking the Brazilians out on penalties after the match ended in a draw at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
The South African midfielder has since undergone a successful surgery and is in recovery stage.
The Galaxy midfielder took to his official page on Instagram to give an update to his fans about his injury and the surgery, according to a report by iDiskiTimes.
"Hi guys, the surgery was a success. Thank you so much for the love and support, especially from my family, I love you guys," he said.
The veteran midfielder also took time to thank the club chairman Tim Sukazi, and the club captain for the effort to secure a ticket for the next round.
"Mr Tim Sukazi and the TS Galaxy family, the coaches, the management, thank you for the support. My captain, well done for the Man of the Match award and getting us into the next round as a team," he added.
Finally, the 37-year-old thanked the fans and the support he received since the horrific injury.
Mokwena defends Zungu after horror tackle
In his reaction to the incident involving Parker, Sundowns manager Mokwena defended Zungu, saying there was no malicious intent.
As Sports Brief previously reported, he did send his best wishes to the striker, who is now recuperating in hospital after his injury.
"I hope it is not as serious as it looks. Knowing Bongani, it was not malicious, and [there] was no malicious intent behind it. The only thing I can say is that I wish Bernard Parker a speedy recovery."
