  • Super Eagles will miss two of their star players in their friendly game against Mozambique
  • Jose Peseiro's side will face the Mambas at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao in Portugal
  • Nigeria drew 2-2 in their last international friendly match against Saudi Arabia on Friday

Nigeria have been dealt with a huge blow ahead of their international friendly game against Mozambique.

The Super Eagles will be without two of their star players for the game against the Mambas at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao in Portugal on Monday, October 16.

The game is one of the preparatory matches for the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Ivory Coast.

Ahead of the tie against the Mambas, Jose Peseiro's side would be without Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, and Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, according to Soccernet.

The three-time AFCON winners are hoping to bounce back from their 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia the last time out but will have to do without the two players mentioned above.

Iheanacho returned to England due to personal reasons while Osimhen underwent an MRI scan to evaluate how severe the injury he sustained against the Green Falcons was, according to Oma Akatugba TV on Youtube.

The former Manchester City star scored Nigeria's second goal against Saudi Arabia the last time out and would have been the right choice to start against Mozambique.

Peseiro is now left with three strikers in the team, Real Sociedad's Umar Sadiq, Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface and OGC Nice' forward Terem Moffi.

A win for the Super Eagles against the Mambas will end their winless run in international friendlies under the former Porto manager.

Nigeria and Saudi Arabia tie end in a draw

Sports Brief earlier reported that the international friendly between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia ended in a 2-2 draw at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao in Portugal on Friday night.

Saudi Arabia took the game to the Super Eagles, who seemed to struggle stringing passes together in most of the encounter.

The Super Eagles will play Mozambique in another international friendly at the same venue on Monday, October 16.
