Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has pleaded with Arsenal fans to forget his passionate celebration against them after he joined Manchester City.
Adebayor enjoyed a successful stint with the Gunners between 2006 and 2009 when he departed for City.
According to talkSPORT, the former Togo international was a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to his impressive goalscoring streak that saw him find the back of the net 62 times in 142 appearances.
However, Adebayor became an instant enemy No. 1 among Arsenal fans after he decided to join rivals City.
So much so that the ex-striker found himself on the receiving end during his first meeting against the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium, with the travelling Gooners aiming abuses at him.
Adebayor gave them a piece of their own medicine when he headed beyond Manuel Almunia to find the back of the net for City.
In response, the former striker sprinted the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the Arsenal fanbase, with his actions earning him a fine and a two-game ban.
Adebayor wants Arsenal fans to forget his actions
Years after the incident, Adebayor has come out to express his hope that the Arsenal fanbase will forget his wild celebration before them.
According to the Togo legend, he pulled off the celebration in response to the abuses directed towards him during the match.
"I think the fans can forget what happened in 2009 when I ran the length of the pitch," Adebayor told Sky Sports.
"Today I will make it clear, I don't think any human being would accept it if people were singing about and insulting your family, especially your mother and your father

Partey speaks on Adebayor legacy
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey believes former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor will be remembered by fans of the club for his celebration against the Gunners at the Etihad.
The 29-year-old is hoping to make history with the Gunners by ending their 19-year wait for the English Premier League title.
