Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang produced an outstanding backheel assist as Olympique Marseille thumped Le Havre in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

The Gabon forward was also on the scoresheet as the former French champions strolled to a 3-0 win at the Stade Orange Velodrome.

Aubameyang returned to France after leaving Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Ismailla Sarr finished off a cheeky backheel from the Gabon national team captain.

Olympique Marseille opened the scoring after 18 minutes following an own goal from Arouna Sangante before Aubameyang doubled the lead three minutes later.

The former Dortmund and Arsenal star then created the final goal with six minutes remaining, as reported by beIN Sports.

Aubameyang scores brace in Europa League win

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is closing in on the history books as he became the second-joint top scorer in the history of the UEFA Europa League.

The Gabonese international, who now plies his trade for Marseille, was crucial for the crisis-stricken French side as they dug out a 3-3 draw against Ajax on Thursday, September 21.

The Dutch side took the lead through Carlos Forbs before Steven Berghuis doubled the lead 13 minutes later.

Aubameyang scores first league goal in France

Former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged his first goal in Ligue 1 since 2013 to help Olympique Marseille beat newly promoted side Le Havre 3-0.

It was also the first win for new manager Gattuso, who was hired late last month after Marcelino stepped down just weeks into the season.

The 34-year-old former Borussia Dortmund striker scored Marseille's second after Le Havre's Arouna Sangante had scored an own goal in the early stages. Former Watford winger Ismaila Sarr scored the third late in the game following Aubameyqang's cheeky assist.
