Things are going from bad to worse for Manchester United.

Sports Brief looks at United's losses thus far this season.

United in the Premier League

Man United are languishing in 10th place in the Premier League after losing to Tottenham Hotspur (0-2), Arsenal (1-3), Brighton & Hove Albion (1-3), and Crystal Palace (0-1) to start the 2023-24 season.

The Red Devils made the wrong kind of history following that Palace defeat, as this is the first time they have lost four of their opening seven league matches since the 1989-90 campaign.

The Theatre of Dreams was once a fortress for United but not anymore. They have lost their last two home league fixtures against Brighton and Crystal Palace.

The last time the Red Devils suffered back-to-back league defeats at Old Trafford was back in 2021 when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was still the club's manager, per FourFourTwo. He was fired shortly thereafter.

United in the Champions League

Raphael Varane made a bold claim during Monday's press conference, saying Man United have the mentality and quality to win the Champions League this season.

That seems to be a pipe dream right now, with the Red Devils starting their campaign in Group A with back-to-back losses.

They made their Champions League return in Germany, facing Bayern Munich in their opening group match. It was a high-scoring affair at the Allianz Arena, with United losing 4-3 to the reigning Bundesliga champions.

The Red Devils looked to get their European campaign back on track on Matchday 2 when they faced Galatasaray at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund twice gave United the lead on Tuesday night, but his performance was wasted as the Turkish side made a stunning fightback, per The Guardian.

Mauro Icardi scored a late winner to give the Super Lig giants a dramatic 3-2 victory and send United crashing to the bottom of Group A.

For the first time in their history, the Red Devils have lost their first two group games in the Champions League, leaving them in danger of an early exit in Europe's biggest club competition.

To make matters worse for Manchester United, they will be without Casemiro for their next UCL match against Copenhagen.

The Brazilian midfielder will serve a one-match European ban after picking up a red card in the latter stages of their loss to Galatasaray.

Onana blamed again after Galatasaray loss

Sports Brief recently reported on struggling goalkeeper, Andre Onana's howlers in United's loss to Galatasaray.

His poor pass in the second half prompted Casemiro to make a careless tackle in the box, resulting in a red card.

The Cameroonian keeper also could have done much better in stopping Icardi's late winner for the Turkish side.
